ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT

1. Our Commitment to Accessibility

Home at Peace Ltd is committed to ensuring that our domiciliary care services, information, and communication channels are fully accessible to all individuals, regardless of their physical, sensory, cognitive, or language needs.

We believe that everyone has the right to receive clear, understandable information to make informed choices about their care. We work actively to identify, prevent, and remove barriers to digital, physical, and verbal communication in accordance with:

  • The Equality Act 2010 (Duty to make reasonable adjustments).
  • The NHS England Accessible Information Standard (AIS) / DCB1605.
  • CQC Regulation 9: Person-centred care and Regulation 17: Good governance.

2. Meeting the Accessible Information Standard (AIS)

As a provider of regulated health and social care services, Home at Peace Ltd strictly enforces the five mandatory steps of the Accessible Information Standard for our service users, their parents, or carers:

  • Ask: We systematically ask all individuals at the initial assessment stage if they have any information or communication needs, and how these needs can met.
  • Record: We record these communication needs clearly and consistently on our digital care planning database and on the front page of physical care records.
  • Highlight: We ensure that an individual’s communication needs are highly visible to any visiting care worker before they attend a shift.
  • Share: With appropriate consent, we share information about an individual’s communication needs with other health and social care agencies involved in their treatment.
  • Act: We take decisive action to ensure that our staff communicate with individuals using the formats and support mechanisms they require.

3. Alternative Formats and Communication Support

To ensure equity of access, Home at Peace Ltd provides our core policies (including Safeguarding, Complaints, and Care Planning templates) in alternative formats upon request, completely free of charge. These formats include:

  • Easy-Read: Simplified language paired with visual images or symbols for individuals with learning disabilities.
  • Large Print: Formatted with high-contrast text and a minimum font size of 16pt to support individuals with visual impairments.
  • Digital Formats: Text-based files optimized to work smoothly with screen-reading software and mobile accessibility tools.
  • Translation Services: Core service descriptions and information leaflets translated into the primary spoken or written languages of our local community.
  • Verbal Support: Staff are trained to read documents aloud, write down notes slowly, or use alternative communication methods (such as Makaton or basic sign language tools) where required.

4. Website and Digital Accessibility

We aim to make our digital platforms and online portals accessible to the widest possible audience. Our website and electronic systems are designed to align with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA standards.

Users visiting our digital platforms should be able to:

  • Zoom in up to 300% without text spilling off the screen.
  • Navigate the digital systems using a keyboard rather than a mouse.
  • Listen to website information using standard system screen readers.
  • Read content clearly via high-contrast layout options.

5. Staff Training and Compliance

All Home at Peace Ltd employees undergo mandatory training on the Equality Act 2010 and the Accessible Information Standard during their induction process.
Field care supervisors monitor the implementation of communication plans through regular direct observations and quality audits of service user care charts. Deliberately ignoring or failing to implement documented communication support plans constitutes a breach of our care standards.
